Love speaks volumes at YMCA Giving Gala 2015


They may have hearing impairment, but that does not stop their hearts from singing. Using their hands in harmony, Y D Gen (YMCA Deaf Generation) showed the hearing world the beauty of sign language through music during their stellar performance that stole the show and warmed hearts at the YMCA Giving Gala 2015 on Wednesday, 7 October.

Two New Office Bearers for YMCA of Singapore


With effect from 1 October 2015, YMCA of Singapore Board Directors Mr Ooi Boon Hoe and Mr Bryan Tan Suan Tiu will take on new roles as Vice President and Honorary Secretary respectively.

They join Mr Chew Kwee San (President), Mr Leslie Wong Kin Wah (Vice President) and Dr Tan Sze Wee (Honorary Treasurer) in serving as the office bearers of the Association and will sit on its Executive Committee.

Scottish seniors dance group among performers at YMCA Silver Fiesta 2015 to promote active ageing

This year, over 700 senior citizens from 19 Voluntary Welfare Organisations will be participating in YMCA Silver Fiesta 2015. They will be befriended by more than 400 youth volunteers from various secondary to tertiary institutions.

Made with love – a tribute to fifty-rrific years of nationhood

50 years of the Singapore story told in 50 scrapbooks made by children aged 3 to 12


In celebrating Singapore’s Golden Jubilee this year, a year-long national education project was conceptualised and started in August 2014 by the YMCA Education Services for children in its YMCA Student Care and Child Development Centres culminated in a showcase of 50 scrapbooks created by the children to tell the Singapore story.

10,000 reasons to be thankful


As part of SG50 and its 10th Anniversary celebrations, Singapore Youth Award 2014 winner Uni-Y Singapore created a mural with the largest collection of reasons that people are thankful for. Comprising 10,000 coasters filled with messages of thanks and gratitude, the 21 meter by 2 meter, double-sided mural was unveiled at Gardens by the Bay on 25 July 2015. The feat earned Uni-Y Singapore a place in the Singapore Book of Records.

Standing up for Corporate Citizenship


On Saturday, volunteers from 22 corporations, organisations and groups were involved in befriending beneficiaries from 22 Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs) over a concert and carnival at Gardens by the Bay. Some 2,000 people were present at the event, including members of the public.
