Justice Andrew Ang retires from Bench

YMCA of Singapore congratulates Justice Andrew Ang on his retirement as a Supreme Court Judge. Justice Ang is a member of the YMCA Advisory Council and retired from his judicial appointment on 26 February 2014 after a decade of eminent service.

Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon congratulated Justice Ang and said that it had been a pleasure to work with him. Chief Justice Menon also thanked Justice Ang "for the generous and warm spirit with which he had approached his work and interacted with his fellow Judges and staff of the court."

Justice Ang began his career as a law lecturer at NUS. He joined Lee & Lee as a lawyer in 1974 and became senior partner and head of the banking and corporate department before leaving the firm in 2004. Thereafter, he joined the Bench as a judicial commissioner of the Supreme Court, a position he held for one year before being appointed to the High Court.

Besides describing his tenure as a “truly enriching and satisfying experience”, Justice Ang said, "I found it particularly fulfilling on the occasions when I could make the difference."

We are sure that even in retirement, Justice Ang will still be able to make a positive difference and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
