YMCA of Singapore organised its first Sports Day today at ITE College West for 39 beneficiaries from MINDS Clementi and Christian Outreach to the Handicapped Former national sprinter and 100 metres record holder, Mr C Kunalan graced the event as a Special Guest.
The
objectives of YMCA Sports Day are to allow the beneficiaries to experience a
sports competition; encourage beneficiaries to challenge their limits through competitive
sports; promote healthy living and
improve psychomotor skills; and provide opportunities for the beneficiaries to interact
socially with volunteers.
Organised
into four groups of 9 or 10, the beneficiaries were supported by 85 volunteers and
enjoyed a modified version of Captain’s Ball, futsal, station games and
a telematch,
After
an afternoon of fun and games, the winning teams received their prizes from Mr
C Kunalan.
YMCA
Sports Day is an extension of the ongoing Y Sports programme which YMCA has
been running since 2011 for the beneficiaries of VWO names.
